Voices come from your device and browser, so the list is different on each device. Voices marked “online” may send the text to your browser maker to be spoken.
How to use the text to speech reader
- Paste or type your text.
- Choose a voice. Pick one that matches the language of your text for the clearest result.
- Set the speed, then press Play. Use Pause to resume later from the same place, or Stop to start again from the beginning.
Ways to use it for study
- Proofread. Hearing an essay read aloud makes missing words and long sentences easier to notice.
- Revise. Listen to your notes while you follow along on the page.
- Practise listening. Slow the speed down for a new language, then speed it up as you improve.
Privacy
This page uses the speech feature built into your browser. StudyKit Hub does not receive your text. Most voices run on your device; some browsers also offer online voices that are processed by the browser maker’s service. These are labelled “online” in the list, so choose a voice without that label if this matters to you.
Questions and answers
- Why are there only a few voices?
- The voices come from your operating system and browser. You can usually add more in your device’s language or accessibility settings.
- Can it read Urdu or Arabic?
- Yes, if your device has a voice for that language. Choose it in the voice list.
- Can I download the audio?
- No. Browsers do not let a web page record their built-in voices, so the speech plays live only.
